During the period of initial restrictions, supermarkets should close earlier.
During the period of the lockdown, Austrian retail stores are to close as early as 7 p.m. This was agreed upon by the social partners in the retail sector, the trade union GPA-djp and the Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ), as they announced on Monday. “Following the agreement of the social partners, a decree by the Ministry of Health is now needed to ensure legal certainty for the opening hours regulation”.
The opening of stores in the morning at an earlier time than that at which the respective store usually opens on the weekday is to be prohibited.
The exit restrictions between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. will initially apply until 12 November, but may be extended several times until the end of November.
