In Germany, the number of coronavirus infections continues to rise rapidly. The Robert Koch Institute today reported 23,399 new cases within one day – more than ever before. In total, there were 642,488 infections in Germany. The number of deaths in connection with the virus rose by 130 to 11,096. Records had already been set on the previous days. Yesterday, the number of new infections exceeded the threshold of 20,000 for the first time with 21,506 cases.
To contain the spread of the virus, a partial lockdown has been in effect in Germany since Monday. Restaurants and bars, museums and fitness studios are closed. In addition, contacts have been restricted. Dis is initially valid for the month of November. On November 16, the state premiers and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) want to take stock of the measures.
