The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior have reported 8,241 newly registered coronavirus cases (as of 9:30 a.m. today) within the last 24 hours. This is significantly more than the previous day, when there were 6,464. 147,220 people have tested positive in Austria since the beginning of the pandemic. 3,006 people have to be treated in hospital for the infection, 432 of them in intensive care.

1,377 people have died in connection with Covid-19 according to ministry figures.

AGES: 73,959 active cases
According to the figures of the AGES dashboard there are (as of today, 14.00 hrs) 73,959 active coronavirus cases. The new dashboard replaced that of the Ministry of Health. This is significantly more active cases than the two ministries’ counting system, as convalescents are registered more slowly in the new system.

In addition, new cases are no longer assigned to the time of registration, but to the time of laboratory diagnosis, which may have taken place days before. This makes the epidemic curve more accurate, but changes the number of newly reported infections, which was previously used as a parameter, but is still communicated by the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health.

7-day incidence increased to 447
More meaningful, however, is the number of positively diagnosed cases over the past seven days per 100,000 inhabitants (7-day incidence), which is 447.3 (as of 2 p.m. today).

New infections by federal states
Burgenland: 274
Carinthia: 457
Lower Austria: 1.099
Upper Austria: 2,279
Salzburg: 790
Styria: 1.021
Tyrol: 812
Vorarlberg: 402
Vienna: 1.107
Note on Salzburg: The 790 new cases in Salzburg are internal surveys of the state, due to massive problems with laboratory reports to the EMS. For the same reason, the test figures could not be collected completely.

Comment on Burgenland: In Burgenland there was a correction of the current number of occupancy of intensive care beds yesterday.
