A nice glass of wine relaxes and goes great with various dishes. No matter which variety you choose, you are not alone. Since the Corona pandemic, wine consumption has increased throughout Austria. Due to the restaurant closures at the beginning of the year, four percent more households have bought regional wine than in the previous year. In addition, the volume of purchases has also increased by a whole seven percent. Wine is therefore enjoying ever greater popularity and if consumed in a normal and healthy measure, the enjoyment also benefits our health.
So much wine per day is healthy
According to nutritionist Marisa Silver, women should have no more than one glass and men no more than two glasses of wine a day. Wine contains the antioxidant resveratrol, which has anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, a glass of wine a day has a positive effect on the composition of our blood lipids and reduces the risk of thrombosis. Wine also helps to break down the harmful LDL cholesterol and thus protects our blood vessels.
Despite the health benefits, the regular and excessive consumption of alcohol of any kind is always associated with many health disadvantages. Silver therefore advises against drinking wine if you are not a wine drinker, just for the benefits. This is not a good option. And even if you drink wine every day, you should try to keep it to one glass. This is the only way your body can benefit from the health advantages.
