Most new cases were again in Upper Austria.
The Austrian health authorities have registered 5,593 new infections with the coronavirus in the past 24 hours. Although this is 340 fewer than reported on Sunday, it is more than 1,500 higher than on Monday of the previous week. According to figures from the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health, there have been 158,746 positive test results since the beginning of the pandemic.
With 1,454 people who have died of or with the coronavirus and 94,627 people who have recovered from Covid-19, this means that there are currently 62,665 people actively infected. 3,229 people currently need to be treated in hospitals for Covid-19, of which 474 patients were in intensive care on Monday. That was 15 more than on Sunday.
Most positive test results were again in Upper Austria with 1,489. In second place was Lower Austria with 891 positive tests, ahead of Vienna with 711 newly infected patients and Styria with 706. Tyrol followed with 561, Salzburg with 458 and Vorarlberg with 426. 188 new coronavirus infections were reported from Burgenland and 163 from Carinthia.
