The Corona situation in Austria is coming to a head! Once again, there has been a sharp increase in new infections in the last 24 hours.

Health Minister Rudolf Anschober recently made it clear that if the corona figures in Austria continue to rise this week, the lockdown “light” in Austria will be tightened. And a tightening was already announced today, Tuesday! Thus, stores will only be open until 19.00 hours from Wednesday onwards.

A possible “explosion” of new infections did not occur yesterday, Monday, with “only” 5,600 new cases, but since experience shows that fewer tests are carried out at the weekend than during the week, this figure should be viewed with caution.

Instead, the next two days will be decisive, says simulation expert Niki Popper from the University of Vienna. According to Popper, it will be seen on “Tuesday or Wednesday” whether the corona tightening and the lockdown in Austria will have an effect.

According to “Heute” information, the number of corona cases in the country has once again increased significantly. In the last 24 hours, a total of 6,120 new infections have been reported throughout Austria. At the same time, a further 45 deaths of infected persons have also been reported. As of today (November 10, 2020, 09:30 a.m.), 1,499 people throughout Austria have died as a result of the corona virus and 98,663 have recovered.

There was also a sharp increase in the number of hospitals. In just one day, 299 people had to be admitted as inpatients and 21 more infected persons had to be given intensive medical care. At present, 3,549 people are undergoing hospital treatment due to the corona virus and 495 of those infected are in intensive care.

Thus, the new infections are divided among the provinces of Austria:

➤ Burgenland: 150

➤ Carinthia: 242

➤ Lower Austria: 1,027

➤ Upper Austria: 1,183

➤ Salzburg: 310

➤ Styria: 795

➤ Tyrol: 950

➤ Vorarlberg: 509

➤ Vienna: 954
