In addition to the Czech Republic, Slovakia also includes Hungary, Poland and Austria on the list of “red” CoV risk countries. This was decided yesterday by the crisis management team (UKS), as the Minister of the Interior Roman Mikulec announced according to the news agency TASR.
So far the Slovakian authorities had classified Vienna, Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Upper Austria and Lower Austria as risk regions. For these federal states there was the recommendation to refrain from avoidable trips there.
Rapid tests planned at border crossings
In the near future it is planned to perform rapid antigen tests at selected border crossings. According to Prime Minister Igor Matovic, testing will be mandatory at 10 to 12 crossings upon entry into Slovakia and will begin next week. Commuters would only have to undergo an antigen test every two weeks.
Private providers would provide the tests. In order to know how many tests are necessary, there will be an observation of the border crossings. In the meantime, certified PCR and antigen tests from other EU member states would be accepted by Slovakia, it was said.
