For the second day in a row, the USA recorded a peak in daily new infections with the coronavirus. For yesterday, 143,231 cases were recorded, according to data from Johns Hopkins University today. This is the highest level of SARS-CoV-2 infections in 24 hours since the beginning of the pandemic. At the same time, the university corrected Tuesday’s figure – the highest daily figure to date – from 136,325 to 140,290.
In the USA, with its 330 million inhabitants, more than 10.4 million people have been proven to be infected with the corona virus since the beginning of the pandemic, as the university further announced on its homepage. According to the data, around 241,800 people have died there so far in connection with a coronavirus infection. According to statistics from Johns Hopkins University, the number of new infections per day for the past week has exceeded 100,000.
The university’s website is regularly updated with incoming data and therefore shows a higher level than the official figures of the World Health Organization (WHO). In some cases, however, the figures have been revised downwards again.
