COVID 19 shopping regulations: Non-compliance threaten penalties up to 1.450 €

Starting tomorrow, shopping malls and other trade establishments will open again after a three week hard lockdown because of the widespread of corona infections. Minister of the Interior Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) appeals to people not to rush into shopping centers immediately and announces drastic penalties.

Minister of the Interior Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) warns people to be extremely cautious when shopping and appeals to the Austrian population to be careful when Christmas shopping and beyond: “Take care of yourself and others. Avoid situations in which the distance cannot be maintained. There are just under three weeks left until Christmas, you don’t have to rush to the shopping centers on the first day”, is the urgent appeal of the Minister of the Interior. There is enough time for everyone to do their Christmas shopping, Nehammer points the way to a careful Christmas shopping.

At the same time, Nehammer also announced a strict controls by the police, who are to check that the current Covid regulations are being observed, especially in the shopping streets. In the case of offences Nehammer announces organ punishment mandates or even complaints. “The penalties of the health authorities are sensitively high – up to 1450 Euro”, Nehammer warns against costly non-compliance with the laws.

There is no alternative, the Minister of the Interior continues: “The measures are tedious and annoying and at the same time an absolute necessity. Particularly in shopping miles, the utmost caution is required,” the politician made an urgent appeal to the Austrians.
