Daily news from the Ministry of Interior and Health indicates that 1,642 positive coronatests have been reported in the past 24 hours. To date, there have been 367,410 positive test results in Austria. As of today (January 4, 2021, 09:30), 6,357 people across Austria have died as a result of coronavirus (+33 compared to the previous day) and 340,273 have recovered. Currently, 2,321 people are in hospital care due to the coronavirus (+ 94 compared to the previous day) and of these, 368 of the ill are in intensive care units (+ 5 compared to the previous day).
The new infections are divided among the provinces as follows:

Among other things, the government had set a target of a seven-day incidence of less than 100 for the third hard lockdown. On Monday – eight days after the start of the strict lockdown – this was still a long way off. Austria-wide, the seven-day incidence was 156, meaning that there were 156 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. The last time Austria was below the declared target of 100 was on October 16.
Only Vienna is approaching the 100 mark. On Monday, the seven-day incidence in the federal capital was 116. Some of the remaining provinces were far from this mark, with Salzburg recording the highest value at 333.
