Case numbers in Germany remain lower than in previous weeks. However, because of the holidays, fewer infections would be detected, recorded, and transmitted.
German health authorities reported 9,847 new Corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day. In addition, 302 new deaths were recorded, the RKI announced. According to RKI as many as 10,687 more people in Germany have been infected with the coronavirus, and 357 have died from or with covid-19. That is 1,743 infections and 42 deaths less than in the previous week.
However, fewer reports from health departments can be expected during the holidays. As a result, current day values may be skewed from previous weeks and initially lower, and later day values may be higher due to subsequent reports.
