A good 2.2 million people have died worldwide so far in connection with the corona virus. This was calculated by the Reuters news service. Nearly 102 million people contracted the virus. Most of the deaths and infections in absolute numbers occurred in the USA. Brazil ranks second, while India is behind the USA in terms of infections.
In the U.S., 3,539 more people died in connection the virus. This brought the total number of deaths to 437,060 in total.
On Saturday, for the first time since May 2020, Taiwan recorded a death following a Corona infection: a nurse’s mother-in-law, who was over 80 years old, died at a clinic in northern Taiwan. In the vicinity of the clinic, 19 cases had occurred since the beginning of January. A total of eight people infected with the corona virus died in the island nation with a population of nearly 24 million, according to Taiwan’s epidemic center CEDD. Of the total of 909 registered infections, 75 had occurred domestically.
