Less than two weeks after the lockdown ended, there has been a massive increase in new infections. On Thursday, 1,967 new infections have become known.
According to initial information, a total of 1,967 new infections and 22 deaths have been registered across Austria in the past 24 hours. On Wednesday, 1,735 Corona cases had been reported, and on Tuesday, 1,427.
A look back at Thursdays in recent weeks shows a dramatic increase of nearly 20 percent. On Feb. 11, 1,577 new infections were recorded, and on Feb. 4, 1,518.
There is some good news, however: There are 32 fewer Covid 19 patients in regular wards as of today (Thursday). Intensive care units also saw a slight decrease of six beds.
On Wednesday, 274,347 tests were performed, resulting in a positive rate of just under 0.72 percent.
As of today (Feb. 18, 2021, 9:30 a.m.), 8,312 people across Austria have died as a result of the Corona virus and 416,431 have recovered. Currently, 1,307 people are undergoing hospitalization for Corona virus. Of these, 258 are being cared for in intensive care units.
