According to the figures made public yesterday by the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), of the 18,577 coronavirus infections officially registered in Austria during calendar week ten (March 8-14), 29.5 percent, or nearly one in three, were asymptomatic. In 63.6 percent of cases, the route of infection could be clarified.

10,377 infections could be assigned to a cluster (an accumulation of cases within a certain period in a certain region, note). This was significantly more than in previous weeks.

The figures show that the private household is still the number one source of infection: 71.4 percent of infections occurred in this setting. 13.9 percent of those affected contracted the disease during their leisure time, 5.5 percent at work. There was a significant increase in infections in the education sector, where 6.6 percent of infections were detected in the previous week. That was more than three times as many as in calendar week five (February 7-14).
