German vaccine maker CureVac believes European approval of its Corona vaccine is still possible in May or June, given progress in the required studies. “We are already very advanced in the third clinical trial phase and are expecting the data for the final approval package,” CureVac spokesman Thorsten Schüller told Augsburger Allgemeine, according to an advance report.
The virus variants have added complexity for the ongoing clinical trial three, Schüller said. CureVac plans to continue producing up to 300 million vaccine doses this year, he said. Bayer, a pharmaceutical company, also will produce the mRNA vaccine, he said.
