From Thursday to Friday, 2,702 new infections have now been reported.
Currently, 2,394 people are receiving hospital care for Corona virus. Of these, 580 are being cared for in intensive care units.
The previous peak was reached on November 25, 2020, when Austria was already in its second hard lockdown with 709 intensive care patients.
In total, there are 32,801 active cases.
Highest level for tests
From Thursday to Friday, 76,482 PCR tests were performed – more than ever before. The percentage of positive tests was 3.53 percent.
Strongest vaccination day ever
Thursday also saw more vaccinations than at any time since the vaccination campaign began. Thus, almost 66,000 vaccinations and thus for the first time more than 60,000 people were vaccinated on one day in Austria.
A total of around 1,950,000 vaccinations have already been administered in Austria. By the end of the week, more than 2 million vaccinations will have been administered. On average, one vaccination is currently administered every 2.5 seconds.
