The threshold of 2,000 people who have died as a result of CoV infection was exceeded in Vienna today. Authorities now reported 2,001 deaths. A new high in the number of intensive care patients was also recorded.
235 Covid-19 patients had to be treated there in Vienna hospitals, nine more than on Friday. This exceeded the previous record of 233 patients on Tuesday. Within the past week, 29 more seriously ill patients had to be transferred to intensive care units in Vienna, an increase of around 14 percent.
834 new infections
A total of 759 infected people needed hospital treatment in Vienna on Saturday. There have been 834 new infections since Friday, the Health Ministry said. The crisis team of the city of Vienna reported 8,854 active cases on Saturday.
According to the report, half of the people currently testing positive in Vienna are also without symptoms at the time of testing. Per 100,000 inhabitants, 104.7 people have already died from or with SARS-CoV-2 in Vienna.
