“The goal that we can return to normality in the summer is not just a goal, it will become a reality very soon.” At yesterday’s Corona Summit, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz expressed confidence that the Corona pandemic would soon be overcome.
In all areas – culture, sports, gastronomy and tourism – openings are to take place before the end of May – a “vaccine turbo” makes this possible. All opening steps will be taken “cautiously”.
With 2,416 new infections were reported yesterday – less than the average of the past week (2,526). The seven-day incidence fell below 200 for the first time in weeks. The hospital figures were also down.
From Friday to Saturday, 2,048 new infections and 27 additional Covid-related deaths were recorded.
To date, there have been 591,347 positive test results in Austria. As of today, 9,870 people across Austria have died as a result of the Corona virus and 552,619 have recovered.
Currently, 2,078 people are undergoing hospital treatment due to the Corona virus. Of these, 548 are being cared for in intensive care units.
