The storm center has issued a storm warning for the federal capital, with winds peaking at up to 100 km/h.

From Sunday morning to Sunday afternoon, the wind from west to northwest will reach gale force at times with peak gusts of 80 to 100 km/h. Especially the two districts of Donaustadt and Favoriten will be affected.

The following effects should be noted:

➤ Trees may be uprooted, larger branches may break off.

➤ Roofs and chimneys may be damaged, larger objects may also fly around, signs and advertising boards may fall over.

➤ Great difficulty in walking and cycling.

➤ Significant problems when riding in vehicles with large air resistance or with trailers.

➤ Electricity and telephone may fail at times

➤ Impairments in road and rail traffic, sometimes also in air and shipping traffic.

These are possible effects that may vary from weather situation to weather situation. UBIMET recommends the following protective measures:

➤ Avoid forested areas or staying near larger trees.

➤ Be prepared for sometimes considerable delays of buses and trains.

➤ Avoid unnecessary car trips, especially with vehicles that offer large surfaces for the wind to attack.

➤ Do not park your car directly next to a tree.

➤ Be prepared for flying objects and falling roof tiles.

➤ Close windows and doors.

➤ Secure loose objects (flower pots, garden furniture, parasol, etc.) or move them into closed rooms.
