On Wednesday, 1,644 new Corona infections were registered in Austria. The number of Corona infected persons in hospitals continues to decline.
The Interior and Health Ministries again reported more than 1,600 new infections in the past 24 hours on Wednesday. The number of Covid 19 patients in hospitals continues to decline.
1,644 new Corona infections on Wednesday
Exactly 1,644 new infections have been recorded since Tuesday. That’s just fewer than the average daily number reported last week, with the seven-day average at 1,676. The seven-day incidence Wednesday was 131.8 cases per 100,000 population. In total, 11,729 new infections were recorded last week.
The number of Covid 19 infected persons in hospitals continues to decline. There are currently 1,560 people in the hospital, down 57 from the number reported Tuesday. 447 people are being cared for in intensive care units. This number decreased by twelve since the previous day, with 69 fewer patients requiring intensive care since last Wednesday.
However, 20 deaths have also been reported again since Tuesday. In the past seven days alone, 159 deaths have been recorded. In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 10,311 lives in Austria since it broke out. Per 100,000 population, 115.8 people have died from or with Covid-19.
626,239 positive coronatests since pandemic began
There have already been 626,239 positive test results in Austria since the pandemic began. 595,877 people are considered recovered. As of Wednesday, there were 20,051 active cases in Austria – 569 fewer than on Tuesday.
In the past 24 hours, 1,644 new infections were added, compared with 2,340 last Wednesday. However, there has been an extraordinary amount of testing again since Tuesday. A total of 346,390 PCR and rapid antigen tests were reported in the past 24 hours. Of these, 96,688 were meaningful PCR tests, and the positive rate was 1.7 percent. On average, more than 67,000 valid PCR smears were analyzed daily during the past week, of which 2.5 percent were positive.
