The Corona situation in Vienna has definitely eased as a result of the lockdown. Both the number of patients in hospitals and new infections with the virus declined.

In an interview conducted by the Austrian Press Agency (APA) with the spokesman for Vienna’s medical crisis team on Tuesday, it was described that the number of covid patients and new infections is declining.

Tests from pharmacies and businesses now included in statistics
According to the city’s medical crisis team, 223 positive test findings were reported, a release said Tuesday. Adjusted for data – for example, double reports – there were only 106 new cases in the past 24 hours.

In total, 134,875 positive confirmed tests and 2,222 deaths due to or from the effects of Covid-19 have been documented since the pandemic began in the nation’s capital. Actively laboring from the disease are 3,271 individuals. Recovered are 129,382.

Yesterday, Monday, a large number of Corona test results were registered in Vienna, a total of 152,423. 56,806 of these were PCR tests and 95,617 were rapid antigen tests. The fact that the number of registered test results has skyrocketed so strikingly has to do with the fact that tests performed in pharmacies and businesses are now also included in the statistics, the crisis team spokesperson explained.

Decrease in corona patients in Viennese hospitals
In hospitals, there is a decrease in covid patients to report, according to data from the Ministry of Interior and Health. Currently, 484 people have to be treated in the facilities due to Covid-19, ten less than yesterday Monday (minus two percent). There is also a decrease in the weekly comparison, by 145 patients (minus 23.1 percent).

Across Vienna, 177 people had to be treated in intensive care units. That is six fewer than yesterday, Monday (minus 3.3 percent). There was also a decrease in a weekly comparison: At that time, there were nine more Covid patients in the intensive care units. The decrease is 4.8 percent.
