There were 1,333 new Corona infections registered across Austria on Friday. There was also a significant decrease in the number of hospital patients.
Within 24 hours, 1,333 new corona virus infections had been added across Austria by Friday morning. This is less than the seven-day average of 1,421 cases, and the weekly incidence per 100,000 population thus dropped from around 121 the previous day to a value of 112. The number of hospitalized people has also dropped just as significantly by 86 affected people since Thursday. The 1,394 hospitalized patients was below the 1,400 mark for the first time since March 1.
Number of Covid 19 intensive care patients down
There were 17 fewer beds occupied by infected patients in intensive care units on Friday than the previous day, Interior and Health Ministry data show. 417 critically ill patients were currently being cared for there. A week ago, there had been just over 500.
18 deaths have been reported since the previous day, with a seven-day average of 20.9 daily, or 146 more Corona deaths in one week. In total, the Corona pandemic has claimed 10,351 lives in Austria since it began.

There have been 628,817 positive tests in Austria so far. Of these, nearly 600,000 people have now been proven to have recovered from infection. As of Friday, 599,854 people were considered recovered, and the number of unreported cases is likely to be much higher. Within 24 hours, 1,932 people were reported as recovered. This means that there were 18,612 active cases in Austria, 617 fewer than on Thursday.
A total of 287,929 PCR and rapid antigen tests were reported in the past 24 hours. Of these, 85,585 were meaningful PCR tests, more than the weekly average of about 68,000 daily. The positive rate of PCR tests was also only 1.6 percent. Over the past week, an average of 2.1 percent of PCR tests were positive.
