Corona numbers in Austria continue to fall after yesterday’s holiday. On Friday, only 887 positive tests were reported. There were 211 new infections in Vienna, and five provinces even had only double-digit infection numbers.
It is well known that corona numbers are always somewhat lower after weekends and holidays. In the last 24 hours, only 887 positive Corona tests were counted in Austria – so the trend continues to point downwards. For the first time in six months, there were also under 1,000 hospitalized.

Eleven deaths have occurred since yesterday, with a seven-day average of 14.9 daily, or 104 deaths in one week. Overall, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 10,455 lives in Austria since the outbreak, 117.5 per 100,000 population.
The positive rate of the 34,806 PCR tests was 2.5 percent. The 24-hour figure is higher than the weekly average of 1.6 percent, but the weekly average of tests is also 60,000.
