As announced by Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, the Green Passport will serve as the entrance ticket to restaurants, hotels, cultural events, outdoor swimming pools, etc. However, not every vaccine will be recognized. As the Ministry of Health clarified, only vaccines approved in the EU will be accepted. Anyone who has been immunized abroad with the Russian vaccine Sputnik V or the Chinese Sinopharm must still present a negative test.

As “proof of a low epidemiological risk” for the restaurants and hotels are considered confirmations of a survived Corona infection during the past six months, current negative antigen or PCR tests or even a vaccination “with a centrally approved vaccine against COVID-19,” as it says in the regulation. “All those vaccines that have been approved by the EMA count as proof of vaccination,” the Ministry of Health emphasizes.

Thus, the following vaccines are currently approved for the Green Passport:

Biontech/Pfizer
Moderna
AstraZeneca
Johnson & Johnson
