Government and SPÖ have agreed on the Green Passport. Now comes a law that will make vaccination, recovery and testing digitally verifiable.

Government and SPÖ were pleased on Tuesday together on a bill. The amendment to the Epidemics Act creates the legal conditions for the Green Passport to be introduced. Without the other parties approval, the new law could have been delayed by the Bundesrat for up to two months. That is now off the table. It has also been ensured that the Austrian Green Passport complies with EU requirements.

The Green Minister of Health, Mückstein, wanted to centrally hoard the movement profiles of passport users. Nothing will come of this either. It will not be stored when the passport holder is where.

Data categories recommended by the EU will be used. Austrians can thus travel freely within the Union.

All access to the Green Passport database is logged in the system. Every citizen should be able to check who accessed his or her data and when.

If data such as vaccinations is not stored correctly in the passport, there is now a legal right to change it within five days.
