More than two billion doses of vaccine have now been administered worldwide in the fight against the Corona pandemic. The striking threshold was exceeded on Thursday morning (CEST), according to a count by the AFP news agency based on official data from individual countries. In the process, six out of ten vaccine doses were administered in the three most populous countries, China, the United States and India. Some 704.8 million Corona shots have been given so far in China, 296.9 million in the US and 221 million in India. In the member countries of the European Union, 255 million vaccine doses have been administered.
Calculated in terms of population, Israel is the vaccination world champion: almost 60 percent of its inhabitants are fully vaccinated, i.e. have received two vaccine doses.
Only six countries in the world have not yet started vaccinating: Tanzania, Chad, Burundi, Eritrea, North Korea and Haiti.
