The number of new infections in Austria continues to decline. Yesterday, with 216 new infections, the average of the past seven days (289) was significantly undercut.
And vaccination is also progressing: more than two million Austrians are now fully immunized against the coronavirus, and more than four million people have been vaccinated for the first time. “I am very pleased that the vaccination program is picking up speed,” said Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein.
From yesterday to today, 200 new infections were reported in Austria. This is the lowest 24-hour figure in nine months. At that time, there had been 184 new cases on Sept. 6. The seven-day incidence per 100,000 population is thus around 22.
With four more deaths from yesterday to today, the pandemic has claimed 10,656 lives in this country so far.
There were 327 covid patients in the hospital on Saturday, 16 fewer than the previous day. Of those, 101 people were being cared for in intensive care units. This number increased slightly by two affected people, but has decreased by 45 patients in one week.
648,387 people have been proven to be infected with coronavirus in Austria so far. Overcame the infection so far 633,538 affected, within the past 24 hours, 433 more were reported as recovered. As of Saturday, there were 4,193 active cases in Austria, 237 fewer than on Friday. A total of 647,536 PCR and rapid antigen tests were reported in the past 24 hours. Of these, 35,516 were meaningful PCR tests, and their positive rate was 0.6 percent.
119,301 vaccinations were administered Friday. In total, according to the E-vaccine passport data, 4,161,072 people have received at least a partial vaccination, or 46.7 percent of the population. 2,086,830, or 23.4 percent of Austria’s population, have been fully immunized so far. Within the past seven days, more than 600,000 bites were added, exactly 611,074.
