In the summer months, the question always arises – am I actually allowed to drive barefoot, with flip flops or slippers?
The Highway or Road Code does not specify what footwear to wear when driving. However, only those who are in the physical & mental condition to control a vehicle may drive.
In practice, this means: Footwear is not clearly prohibited. But if unsuitable footwear leads to or contributes to an accident, (contributory) negligence can be charged and the insurance company can get out.
So, in order to perform emergency braking and maintain full control of your vehicle, we advise you to wear shoes that provide support & safety while driving, such as sports shoes.
Have a good trip! ?
