Health offices in Germany have reported 1008 new Corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day. This is according to figures from Thursday morning, which reflect the status of the RKI dashboard as of 04:10. For comparison: a week ago, the value had been 1330 newly registered infections, according to the RKI.
The development of the daily newly registered deaths also continues to follow a downward trend – albeit less rapidly than with the infection figures. According to the latest data, health authorities have reported 93 more deaths to the RKI. A week ago, there had been 105 deaths.
The RKI gave the seven-day incidence – the number of new cases reported within seven days per 100,000 population – as 6.6 (previous day: 7.2; previous week: 11.6). This is the lowest value since August 10, i.e. for almost ten and a half months. A month ago, the seven-day incidence was 62.5.
According to the latest RKI data, at least 3,724,806 people in Germany have been confirmed to have contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus since the pandemic began. According to the data, the total number of people who have died in connection with a confirmed virus infection has risen to 90,616. The RKI estimates the number of those who recovered to be more than 3.61 million.
The nationwide seven-day R value was 0.72 (previous day: 0.68), according to the RKI situation report Wednesday evening. This means that 100 infected people mathematically infect 72 other people. The value represents in each case the infection occurrence 8 to 16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the incidence of infection is decreasing.
