A cell phone signature is required to access the Green Passport. In the Vienna City Hall, there is now a dedicated point of contact for the issuance, thereby no pre-registration is necessary.
With a cell phone signature, access is possible not only to numerous official applications, but also to the Green Passport. For this reason, a rush of signature applications is expected at Vienna City Hall, for example. In order to cushion this, a contact point has now been opened there, where cell phone signatures can be issued without prior registration.

An appointment for the “walk-in” in the Volkshalle is not necessary, reported Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) on Thursday in conversation with journalists. About 30 employees of the City Service are on duty there from Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 17:00. Currently, it is planned to offer the service until October 2021.
It is expected that around 1,000 signatures can be issued per day, it was said today. These will be created within a few minutes. The first cases were already completed on Thursday morning.
Extension of appointments for passport issuance
In addition to the green passport, the red passport is currently causing stress in Vienna. 200,000 of them are to be renewed in Vienna this year. The district offices now also offer appointments on Saturdays to renew passports before the travel season.
