The number of infections has recently increased again in Austria due to the delta variant. Meanwhile, the delta variant accounts for a full 90 percent of Corona cases in Austria. As “Today” learned, there are thereby on Thursday 306 new infections with the Corona virus. For comparison: a week ago, on June 8, 120 cases had been reported. A drastic increase!
In addition, there was one death from Wednesday to Thursday.
So far, there have been 652,660 positive test results in Austria. As of July 15 (9:30 a.m.), 10,728 people across Austria have died as a result of the Corona virus. Currently, 109 people are in hospital care due to the Corona virus. Of these, 32 are being cared for in intensive care units.
The Ministry of Health’s dashboard is operated by the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) and can be accessed at “covid19-dashboard.ages.at.” The dashboard obtains its data exclusively from the Epidemiological Reporting Register (EMS) and is updated daily, 14:00. The EMS is the official register in which data is entered by the district authorities as well as by laboratories.
The Federal Ministry of the Interior collects the figures as part of the coordination of State Crisis and Disaster Management in the Operations and Coordination Center (EKC) via videoconference. These figures may include cases not yet recorded in the EMS.
