Corona numbers dropped in Austria on Sunday compared to the previous day. Accordingly, in the past 24 hours, 323 new infections were reported as of 9:30 a.m., according to the Ministry of Interior and Health (Saturday: 411). Last Sunday, however, only 159 infections were registered for comparison. The seven-day incidence was 23.8 cases per 100,000 population. Vaccinations exceeded the four-million mark of fully immunized individuals.
Mückstein: “Important intermediate stage in vaccination”
“Four million people in Austria are now fully immunized and thus well protected against the delta variant. We have reached another important intermediate stage in vaccination,” said Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens). More than half of the vaccinated population in Austria is now fully immunized. While around 73 percent of the 56-plus age group have already received the full vaccination dose, only 37 percent of the twelve- to -55-year-olds have. “My appeal today is therefore aimed specifically at the young: Whether you’re at the boat, at the soccer game, or on Immunization Street, take advantage of one of the many opportunities, get vaccinated, and fortify yourself against Covid-19,” Mückstein said.
42,799 vaccinations were entered into the E-vaccination record on Saturday. Accordingly, a total of 5135,349 people in Austria have received at least a partial vaccination, or 57.5 percent of the total population. Exactly 4,033 347, or 45.2 percent of all residents, are fully immunized. The vaccination coverage rate is highest in Burgenland with 64.1 percent. In Lower Austria, 60.7 percent of the population is vaccinated, and in Styria 57.8 percent. After Tyrol (57.6), Vorarlberg (56.5), Vienna (55), Carinthia (54.6) and Salzburg (53.9), Upper Austria brings up the rear with a vaccination coverage rate of 53.8 percent.
