No all-clear in several provinces, Hallein in Salzburg hit hard by floods.
Thunderstorms and heavy rain in a short time have caused severe devastation on Saturday and in the night to Sunday also in Austria. Hallein was particularly affected yesterday. In Salzburg’s district capital, a disaster alert was issued late in the evening because the Kothbach stream had burst its banks, leaving a trail of devastation through the old town. Civil defense alerts were also issued in Mittersill in Pinzgau as well as in Kufstein in Tyrol – in Kufstein the alert was lifted again.
Especially for the provinces of Salzburg, Upper Austria and Tyrol, no all-clear can yet be given for the affected regions. Further heavy rainfall is expected. A calming of the situation is expected only during the night.
