Corona test offer should be extended
At first, NEOS health spokesman Gerald Loacker had demanded that the Corona tests should become chargeable after the summer, so that as many people as possible could be vaccinated. Now Mückstein commented: “In the fall, vaccinations will stagnate at some point.
We have spent well over a billion euros on testing since the pandemic began. That was the right thing to do, but at some point, somebody has to pay for it.” When everyone has been able to take advantage of the vaccination offer, he said, the situation will be reassessed.
“Just now, when the infection figures are rising again, it needs an expansion of free Corona tests and not a withdrawal of them,” SPÖ health spokesman Philip Kucher then criticized. Paid tests would not so much increase the willingness to vaccinate as they could lead to an increase in the number of unreported cases of infection.
