Convalescents with only one vaccination will be considered fully immunized in the Green Passport as of August 15. Those who have not recovered will need at least two vaccinations for the Green Passport – except for Johnson&Johnson.
Solution for convalescents with one vaccination
As of August 15, vaccinated individuals will only receive a “green passport” if they can demonstrate full immunization. For most vaccines, this requires two stings. For those who have recovered, one vaccination is sufficient, but their certificate used to say “1/2”. This has now been changed. With the reference “1/1”, those currently 130,000 people who had a Corona infection and were vaccinated once are now also shown as fully immunized.
Those not fully immunized must be fully vaccinated
In doing so, the Department is following the recommendation of the National Immunization Panel. For those who have not been vaccinated, on the other hand, as of August 15, being vaccinated only once will no longer be sufficient for a “green passport.” Exceptions will be made for those immunized with Johnson & Johnson’s single-use vaccine. The new EU-compliant vaccination certificates for vaccinated convalescents are automatically generated and made available via gesundheit.gv.at.
140,000 people vaccinated twice despite recovery
The new certificate was made possible by the linking of the e-vaccination certificate with the Epidemiological Reporting System (EMS), which was made possible by a change in the law at the end of July. A total of 267,826 new certificates were issued to individuals who recovered and were vaccinated. Of these, 140,000 people had already been vaccinated twice despite recovery, for example because it had been a very long time ago or because they needed proof of two bites for international travel, for example.
