Corona new infections in Austria: nearly 50 percent occured in households

Almost 50 percent of new Corona infections in Austria again occur in households. However, there was a significant minus from August 2 to 8 with regard to the proportion of travel-associated infections.

Whereas in the last week of July, 39.3 percent of all cases in which the source of infection was found were due to vacation travel, this proportion fell to 23.3 percent in the previous week.

Down in percentage of cleared Corona infections
According to the updated Covid-19 epidemiologic clearance from the Agency for Food Safety and Health and Food Security (AGES), the source of infection was identified in 63.1 percent of a total of 3,700 new SARS-CoV-2 cases last week. The proportion of clarified infections has thus decreased by eight percent.

Sports contributed to 1.2 percent of Corona infections
The leisure sector recently contributed 14.1 percent to the incidence of infections, the hotel and catering industry 7.1 percent, and sports 1.2 percent. There was a slight increase in clusters, as clustered cases are called. 1,685 infections were attributable to this category last week, compared with just over 400 four weeks earlier. 23.6 percent of the cases that occurred in the previous week were asymptomatic.
