New infections are again scraping the 1,000 threshold. One new death linked to Covid-19 from yesterday to today.
From Thursday to Friday, more than 1,000 new infections were registered in Austria within 24 hours for the first time since May. An increase in infection numbers had been expected due to the delta variant, Wolfgang Mückstein said. The situation in hospitals is not yet worrying, but “we must prepare well for the fall,” the Green health minister said. In a response, Mückstein once again called on the population to get vaccinated.
From Friday to Saturday, the 1000 threshold was just not reached: 951 new Corona infections were registered.
There is one new death related to a Covid 19 infection to report, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 10,754 so far. The number of active cases increases by 404 to 8,121. The seven-day incidence rises to 59.68.
In the past 24 hours, 63,755 PCR tests have been performed, with a positive rate of 1.49 percent.
Austria’s hospitals currently have 221 people linked to covid disease, up 16 from the previous day. 51 patients are in intensive care – three more than the day before.
