The number of new Corona infections in Israel has risen to the highest level since the pandemic began. There have been 11,187 new cases have been registered, the Health Ministry announced Thursday (Sept. 2). The new high was published the day after school started. It is the third consecutive day with more than 10,000 new cases in Israel. At the same time, the number of seriously ill people has steadily decreased and is about half of what it was in January. Projected per 100,000 population, the number of Corona cases in Israel is several times higher among the unvaccinated than among the vaccinated in all age groups.
Canada is donating 1.3 million doses of vaccine to three African countries. The doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine will go to Nigeria, Kenya and Niger through the Covax initiative and will be shipped starting Thursday (Sept. 2). Covax was launched back last year by the WHO, the European Commission and France, with the aim of enabling equitable distribution of Covid-19 vaccines. The aim is to deliver 2 billion doses of vaccine to poorer countries by the end of this year.
