3G for theaters, cinemas and concerts; FFP2 mask requirement for unvaccinated in museums and galleries. City of culture Vienna continues with much stricter rules.

The latest Corona regulation of the federal government does not necessarily make it easier for those interested in culture to keep track of the regulations that will apply from tomorrow, Wednesday. That’s because, in addition to the regulations that are binding nationwide, the federal states are free to set additional tightenings – which is why Vienna continues to have significantly stricter rules. The following is an overview:

Corona rules for theaters, cinemas, concerts.
In theaters, cinemas and concerts, the 3G rule applies in principle. This means that admission is only possible for people who have either been vaccinated, recovered or tested – although self-tests are no longer valid as of Wednesday. Mouth-to-nose protection is not required for all visitors. Above certain thresholds in the occupancy of intensive care beds with corona patients, further tightening may take effect in the future according to a phased plan.

In the federal capital, however, where a large part of domestic cultural life takes place, this area has been handled more strictly for some time and will continue to be: in addition to 3G, mouth-nose protection is also mandatory for everyone in the theater, cinema and concert areas.

Event organizers can also implement their own Corona concepts. For example, at Vienna’s Donauinselfest this coming weekend, access to the grounds is only possible at all with a negative PCR test – regardless of whether you have been vaccinated or not.

Corona rules for museums, exhibitions, galleries
Here there is basically neither 3G nor mask obligation. Only unvaccinated persons must wear an FFP2 mask in museums, exhibition halls and galleries from Wednesday. Analogous to the trade, this is to be controlled randomly by the police.

Vienna is also stricter here and requires all other visitors – including vaccinated and recovering visitors – to wear mouth/nose protection.
