From October, stricter Corona rules will apply in Vienna. In retail, it is once again: FFP2 mask on for all customers. And it will be uncomfortable for the unvaccinated.

The mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig (SPÖ), continues to go his own way when it comes to Corona. And that will lead there from October 1:

In the future, an antigen test will no longer be sufficient for a visit to a restaurant, because in the restaurant, customers and waiters will have to be vaccinated, recovered or PCR-tested!

In the night gastronomy, 2G (vaccinated, recovered) is required. Bartenders and other employees fall under 2.5G, for them a PCR test is sufficient.

From 500 participants – for example in soccer stadiums, concerts or theaters – 2G applies, regardless of whether indoor or outdoor. This means that unvaccinated soccer fans who have not recovered are no longer allowed to cheer for their team on site.

The FFP2 mask is already required in supermarkets, public transport and healthcare facilities. Now Vienna is extending the FFP2 requirement to all stores. For retail employees, the vaccination status decides: unvaccinated need FFP2.

For the time being, the tightening is limited until October 31. Ludwig rejected an earlier relaxation in the event of declining numbers.
