On Tuesday, the northeast of Austria is initially still on the edge of a dissolving low pressure system, but in the course of the day, an intermediate high pressure system makes itself felt in large parts of the country. On Wednesday, the Alpine region comes under the influence of a marginal low over northern Italy and with the passage of a cold front, somewhat cooler air masses enter the country. In the course of Thursday, the next intermediate high will spread over Central Europe.
Tuesday will start mostly cloudy with local rain showers in the Northern Alps and towards the Weinviertel. During the day, especially in the south and in the eastern lowlands, the sun will appear frequently, but also otherwise it will loosen up a bit. In the afternoon, some showers are possible from the Mühlviertel to the Weinviertel as well as in the eastern Northern Alps, otherwise it will remain mostly dry. The wind will blow moderately or briskly from the northwest at the eastern edge of the Alps. In addition, there will be from west to southeast 17 to 25 degrees.
On Wednesday, rain will fall from Vorarlberg to the Innviertel, but during the day the clouds will slowly clear and the rain will move to the central mountains and to the north of the country. In the east and south, after an often cloudy start due to high fog, the sun will appear in some areas, but in the afternoon showers and local thunderstorms in the south are to be expected. The wind north of the Alps will be moderate to brisk from the west. Highs will range between 14 and 22 degrees.
Thursday will be dry in most regions and sunny at times after fog has dissipated. On the northern side of the Alps, as well as from the Graz Basin over Burgenland to the Weinviertel, rain will initially fall, but by noon it will also largely dry out here and the clouds will begin to break up. Temperatures will not rise above 14 to 21 degrees Celsius, with moderate to brisk winds in the beginning, but decreasing in the afternoon.
On Friday, one must initially expect fog or high fog in the valleys, in the lowlands and in the southern basins. After some hesitant clearing of fog, however, friendly and dry weather will prevail, on the mountains sunshine will prevail from early morning with only a few harmless clouds. The wind will shift to the southeast and blow in the eastern lowlands, sometimes briskly. Temperatures start to rise again with 18 to 23 degrees.
