In Austria, cool autumn weather is expected in the coming week. According to the forecast of the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG), the snow line will drop to up to 800 meters above sea level.
Vienna weather in detail
In the east and southeast, Monday will start with residual clouds, in southern Styria and southern Burgenland it may initially also rain a little. Further in the west and north, the sun will often shine from the beginning, only in places there will be fog patches. In the course of the day, sunny weather will also prevail in the east and later also in the southeast, but in the afternoon the next high cloud fields will move in from the northwest. The wind will blow moderately from west to north, only in the south there will be little wind. Early temperatures will range from minus two to plus eight degrees, daytime highs from ten to 16 degrees.

Unsettled autumn weather from Tuesday
On Tuesday, cold fronts will move through from the northwest in quick succession, bringing very unsettled weather. Especially along the northern side of the Alps, clouds will accumulate and here it will rain or snow for a longer period of time, but rain showers will be widespread. Only in the south there will be at most isolated showers. The snow line lies at 1,100 to 1,400 meters above sea level. The wind will blow moderately to briskly from west to northwest. Early temperatures range from one to nine degrees, daytime highs eight to 14 degrees.

Embedded in a northwesterly current, dense clouds as well as rain showers will move through again and again on Wednesday north of the main ridge of the Alps as well as in the north and east. In the congested area of the Alps, it will also rain for longer periods. The snow line lies between 800 and 1,200 meters above sea level. Between the showers, however, there are also chances of some sunshine. It is much friendlier with more sunshine in the south and southeast. The wind will blow moderately to briskly from west to north, on the southern side of the Alps it will be foehny. According to the forecast, early temperatures will range from two to eight degrees, with daytime highs of five to 13 degrees.

Up to 14 degrees and some sunshine on Thursday
On Thursday, a warm front from the west will bring an interplay of sunshine and a few denser clouds during the day. With the clouds, it may also rain locally at least lightly, especially in the north and east. The snow line will initially be around 1,000 meters above sea level, but will rise during the day to 1,500 meters above sea level. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from west to northwest. Early temperatures will be in the range of minus one to plus six degrees, daytime highs eight to 14 degrees.

Friday will start often sunny with local fog, which will last longer, especially in inner alpine basins and valleys. From noon on, increasingly dense clouds will move in from the northwest. During the evening hours, these will finally bring the first raindrops in the border area to Bavaria and the Czech Republic. Weak, in the north and east during the day increasingly moderate wind from the west. Temperatures will range from minus two to plus seven degrees in the morning, in the afternoon eleven to 16 degrees are expected.
