Salzburg is again CoV high risk zone. The traffic light commission put the state on red Thursday afternoon. That means very high risk. The two westernmost states of Vorarlberg and Tyrol, as well as Vienna and Burgenland in the far east, have been placed in the medium-risk yellow zone by the traffic light commission, according to APA information. The rest of the country is at high risk, which is represented by the color orange.

Salzburg has the highest current risk number, which decides the classification, with 103.1. This means that Salzburg slipped just into the very high risk sector. An application by the state for Orange remained in the minority.

With CoV numbers rising in Salzburg, the CoV traffic light was set to red on Thursday afternoon. However, the number of seriously ill and hospitalized persons is not alarming, the state says.

Upper Austria is only slightly better with 97.3, while Burgenland has the current best value with 38.1. Lower Austria changes this week from medium to high risk. Vorarlberg, Tyrol and Vienna improve in the other direction.

Declining trend in Vorarlberg and Vienna
Salzburg also had the worst values for raw and risk-adjusted case rates, which cover additional risks, last week. The lowest incidences were in Vorarlberg. Besides the Ländle, only Vienna showed a decreasing 14-day trend. The trend was upward in Burgenland, Styria, Upper Austria and Salzburg.

The highest number of cases recently occurred in Hallein, followed by Braunau and Scheibbs. All three districts had repeatedly been conspicuous in the CoV pandemic. In terms of risk-adjusted incidence, Tamsweg in Lungau is the lonely frontrunner with 720. In the test region of Vorarlberg, where school is now in session without testing, all districts are below the incidence of 100 in both assessments.

No intensive care patients in Burgenland
As far as the coverage of intensive care units is concerned, Vienna is burdened with the highest value, both currently and in the forecast. At last count, the number of intensive care patients in Burgenland was exactly zero. Less encouraging is the trend in new infections among the older generation, which is particularly at risk. An increase of 20.3 percent was observed among the over-65s throughout Austria.

There is not much news in testing activity. The Viennese tested by far the most last week, the Tyroleans, as has become customary, the least. The fact that the federal capital registered the comparatively highest number of asymptotic cases (48 percent) is hardly surprising in view of the diligent testing. The national average is 33 percent. Vienna also has the second-best figure for cleared cases, behind Burgenland.
