Austria-wide basic framework: 3-G applies in the workplace as of this week. This means that anyone who wants to legally enter their place of work must be vaccinated, recovered or tested. The 3-G rule also applies in restaurants, leisure and service establishments, and art and cultural institutions. Mandatory testing applies to those 12 years of age and older. Antigen tests are valid for 24 hours (including living room self-tests), PCR tests for 72 hours. In supermarkets, bakeries and pharmacies, FFP2 masks are mandatory for all customers.
Vienna: In the catering trade, in leisure and service enterprises for applies the 2.5 G rule – thus vaccinated, recovered or PCR-tested. Testing is compulsory from the age of six. FFP2 masks are compulsory in every branch of the trade. When going to the cinema or other events with up to 500 visitors, at least mouth/nose protection must be worn in addition to the 2.5 G rule. For more than 500 visitors and in night gastronomy, 2-G applies.
Salzburg: FFP2 masks must be worn throughout the trade and at service providers close to the body.
Carinthia, Upper Austria, Lower Austria: As of November 8, the 2-G rule applies in night catering and at large events. In all retail outlets, in libraries and in museums, FFP2 masks must be worn again. In Carinthia, these rules already apply from Thursday.
Styria, Tyrol: Here, too, the FFP2 mask will return to all trade as of November 8. For employees in health care professions, the 2.5-G rule will apply instead of the 3-G rule, as will visitors to hospitals or retirement homes. In Styria, living room rapid tests will no longer be accepted as of November 8.
