Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) announced further tightening of Corona rules for Vienna – regardless of Sunday’s pending decisions on a possible lockdown for unvaccinated people across Austria.
In the night gastronomy and at events with more than 25 persons, access shall in the future only be allowed if one is vaccinated or recovered and can also show a valid PCR test (“2-G plus”). The FFP2 mask requirement is to be extended indoors – for example, to workplaces. In the catering industry, the wearing of an FFP2 mask away from the seat is again required.
Vienna is also moving ahead with booster vaccinations. This third corona vaccination is to be possible in the federal capital as early as four months after the second vaccination. Previously, this was only possible after six months.
Also the registration for the vaccination against the Coronavirus for children between five and eleven years will be possible starting from Saturday. Already on Monday, children should be able to be vaccinated at the Austria Center. The vaccination of this age group is done “off label”, so there is no official approval of the vaccine yet. However, this is expected from the EU Medicines Agency before the end of the year.
The corresponding regulation is in the works, and the measures will come into force in the course of the coming week.
