The next lockdown is just around the corner – and probably not a day too late: in the past 24 hours (as of Friday, 9:30 a.m.), 15,809 new corona virus infections have been recorded in Austria. A week ago, there were 11,798 new corona cases. Most recently, 48 people infected with the coronavirus died. The number of ICU patients continues to increase dramatically. Currently, 520 covid patients are in intensive care.
Most new infections were registered in Upper Austria, where there were 4068 new cases. In Vienna there were 2617 new infections, in Tyrol 1764, in Lower Austria 1664, in Styria 1521, in Salzburg 1502, in Carinthia 1303, in Vorarlberg 927 and in Burgenland 443.
The number of infected patients treated in normal wards increased by 62 within 24 hours, and the number of intensive care patients increased by 22.
Meanwhile, 11,951 Corona-infected persons have died in Austria.
