Vienna – Week after week, opponents of the government’s Corona measures, including mandatory vaccination, staged demonstrators in key cities and provicnes in Austria. Distances are not kept, mouth-nose protection is not worn. Now a counterpoint is set in Vienna.
On December 19, there will be a “sea of lights” at 5 pm. Initiated it the Innsbrucker Roman Scamoni and the Viennese Daniel Landau. “Envisaged is a two-sided trellis around the entire Ringstrasse of people, with FFP2 mask of course,” says Landau in an interview with the Tiroler Tageszeitung. Those who have died in the meantime, more than 13,000, are to be commemorated, the health personnel will be thanked.
So a kind of counter-demo? That’s not what it’s supposed to be, the protagonists say: “It’s about drawing a consciously different picture of the vast majority. The majority lives according to the motto ‘with each other and for each other. Fears, worries are justified, “not justified is the aggression”. Next Saturday the “sea of lights” should have taken place, but because of feedback like this it was postponed: “When the others are on the road again, we don’t dare go out on the street.” The action is registered with the police. It is being promoted via social networks – under the hashtag #Lichtermeer and #YesWeCare. There is a lot of encouragement. “Starting point” is to be Vienna, in the other provincial capitals there will be seas of lights in January.
