1,550 new infections in Austria

From Sunday to Monday, 1,550 new infections were registered in Austria. This is below the average of the past seven days of 2,096. It also brings the number of active cases down further to 28,825.

In the past 24 hours, 167,020 new PCR tests were performed. This results in a positive rate of 0.66 percent. The seven-day incidence has dropped to 164.

There are also 16 new deaths associated with Covid 19 infection to report. Thus, the pandemic has claimed 13,650 lives in Austria so far.

There are currently 1,207 people in hospital, up by one patient from the previous day. 383 people are being cared for in intensive care units. The latter number did not change, but decreased by 95 within one week.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 1,266,103 confirmed cases in this country. Recovered are of it 1,223,628, within the past 24 hours 2,195.

Vaccinations
14,750 vaccinations have been carried out on Sunday. 6,280,072 people, or 70.3 percent of Austrians, thus have valid vaccination protection on the anniversary of the start of vaccination in Austria. 6,589,991 people (73.8 percent) received at least the first sting. 3.58 million or 39.6 percent have already been “boosted” with the third sting.

The protection rate is highest in Burgenland with 75.6 percent. In Lower Austria, 72.1 percent of the population has valid vaccination protection, and in Styria, 70.1 percent. After Vienna (69.6), Tyrol (69.2), Vorarlberg (67.5), Carinthia (67) and Salzburg (66.9), Upper Austria brings up the rear with 66 percent.
