Due to an EMS error, it took a long time on Wednesday before the number of new infections could be announced. Now the problem is fixed: In the past 24 hours (as of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday), 9761 new infections have been recorded in Austria. Already on the previous day, the number of new infections had increased drastically with 5496 cases compared to the previous week. Now they have even tripled compared to the previous week (3251 cases).
As of today (January 5, 2022, 10:30 a.m.), 13,802 people across Austria have died as a result of the Corona virus and 1,245,294 have recovered. Currently, 1,010 people are undergoing hospitalization for Corona virus. Of these, 309 are being cared for in intensive care units.
