The Corona situation in Austria remains tense due to the high numbers, yet there is now a relaxation of rules. And already starting from 24 January! The Alpine republic simplifies again the entry into the country.

From Monday, people from all over the world can enter Austria again. Prerequisite: they must be vaccinated and need a PCR test – for boostered the test obligation is omitted. The total of 14 states of the virus variant areas will be removed from the list again, reports Ö1 on Sunday.

The countries include Great Britain, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark and ten states in southern Africa. The Omicron variant had spread rapidly there shortly after its discovery – but in the meantime the new mutation is also dominant in Austria.

The entry regulations are now relaxed, it is further said. For the entry from these countries applies starting from 24 January therefore: who is inoculated or recovered, needs a current negative PCR test, in order to enter Austria. Persons who have been boostered (i.e. vaccinated three times) will not be required to take the test.
